Stephen Blood, D.O. is an Alexandria native, educated in the Alexandria Public schools. At the University of Richmond, he majored in chemistry and received a Bachelor of Science. For medical school, Dr. Blood followed in the footsteps of his father, Harold Blood, D.O., attending Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O) in 1968. He served a one-year internship at the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine in Portland, Maine, where he later opened his first practice.
In 1972, he returned to Alexandria to join his father's practice, Osteopathic Family Physicians, Ltd.
Since starting general practice he has been certified by the Osteopathic College of General Practice, the American Academy of Osteopathy in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), and the Cranial Academy for Cranial Manipulation. Also, he is certified by UCLA in Acupuncture, and he has used Prolotherapy for more than a decade. His passion is treating infants and children.
His hobbies include community service through the Alexandria Kiwanis Club, in which he has had perfect attendance for 37 years, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, and being a grandfather. He and his wife, Connie, have been happily married for 34 years.
